John Legend Is One Emmy Away from EGOT Status After Winning Tony Award

John Legend was recently awarded a Tony Award as co-producer of Jitney, which won Best Revival of a Play.

With this award, Legend is now only an Emmy away from winning all four major American entertainment awards. He won an Oscar in 2015 for best original song for Selma’s “Glory,” and has multiple Grammys.

Jitney tells the story of a group of men who attempt to make a living driving unlicensed cabs, or jitneys, during the 1970s. The show ran a limited engagement from January 19 to March 12 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in Manhattan.
